3 Toddler Meals That Are Top 9 Allergy Free, and Still a Hit!

Real Food: Top 9 allergy-free meals for Toddlers

If you’re a mom managing food allergies, you know the feeling: staring into the fridge, wondering what in the world you can feed your child that won’t cause a flare-up. I’ve been there.

Our journey with eczema and food allergies taught me to look at mealtimes differently. We had to eliminate so many of the usual “toddler staples,” and honestly, I was anxious my child would go hungry… or flat-out refuse to eat what I made.

But guess what? Through trial, error, and lots of prayer and Pinterest fails, we found some safe, simple meals that even our picky eater loved—and they’re free from the Top 9 allergens (milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, fish, shellfish, and sesame).

These are my go-to’s—and today, I’m sharing them with you.

1. Creamy “Mac” & Veggies (Without the Dairy or Wheat)

Ingredients:

  • Chickpea pasta or your favorite gluten free pasta
  • 1 cup steamed carrots + ½ cup cooked sweet potato
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • A splash of unsweetened coconut milk or oat milk (if tolerated)
  • Sea salt, garlic powder, nutritional yeast (optional)

How to Make It:

  1. Blend carrots, sweet potato, oil, and milk into a creamy sauce.
  2. Stir into cooked pasta.
  3. Add broccoli or peas if you want extra veggies. Or add ground beef.

2. Mini Chicken Patties

Ingredients:

  • Ground chicken or pork
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed + 2.5 tbsp water (flax egg)
  • 2 tbsp shredded zucchini or carrots
  • ½ tsp cumin, pinch of salt
  • A drizzle of olive oil for cooking

How to Make It:

  1. Mix all ingredients and form into mini patties.
  2. Cook in a skillet for 3–4 mins per side.
  3. Serve with mashed avocado and sliced fruit on the side.

✨ Pro Tip: Make a batch and freeze for busy days! They reheat beautifully.

3. Allergy-Friendly Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients:

  • ½ frozen banana
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries or mango
  • ½ cup oat milk or your favorite dairy alternative

How to Make It:

  1. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  2. Pour into a bowl and let your toddler add their own toppings (safe seeds, fruit, coconut flakes).

✨ Tip: Letting your toddler “decorate” it makes them way more likely to eat it!

💬 From One Allergy Mom to Another…

I know how overwhelming it can be to make food feel fun again when you’re constantly checking labels and saying “no” to what feels like everything.
